Celebrated as one of the most influential figurative painters of our time, Chuck Close has remained a vital presence by focusing exclusively on portraiture, a genre often under-recognized in contemporary art. This exhibition, co-organized by the Walker Art Center and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, focuses exclusively on Close's self-portraits in all of the media in which he works: painting, drawing, photography, collage, and printmaking.
